Holy moly it is almost here. A whole year of waiting has passed, and The Great British Bake Off (GBBO for those who like an abbreviation) is literally around the corner. As I sit here waiting eagerly in anticipation, I can’t help but feel the distinct urge to channel my inner Paul Hollywood and hop aboard the bready bandwagon.
Watching GBBO was part of what inspired me to start writing a blog in the first place, and it was Pauly H that got me into bread-baking at all. Before last year, I hadn’t ever made bread from scratch, so to be able to sit here and say that I, Harry Daly, have succeeded in making an eight strand plaited loaf makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
I was going to bake a bread flavoured masterpiece this evening, however the fact that it is indeed the evening – verging on 8pm – has put me off the idea. Waiting for my dough to prove for an hour or so just really doesn’t do it for me in the slightest. Alas, bread-baking will be occurring this weekend in daylight hours. And now? Well I’m planning on pouring myself a large gin and tonic, putting my feet up, and watching bake-off reruns to gear myself up for tomorrow’s marvel.
